The job isn’t only an autobiography

Autobiography

The autobiography or the identifying speech are the first meeting between you and the company you apply in. Most companies and governmental entities ask for “C.V” or “Portfolio” or “Resume” or “Biodata”. They all mean the same thing which is the autobiography but their information differs from each other.

CV or Vitae:

It includes:

  • Personal data.
  • The personal skills whether in your business or in other fields as being perfect in speaking many languages.
  • A detailed description about your experience (companies you’ve worked for and your positions).
  • Your educational background (all qualifications, certifications and positions you got once).

Cover Letter:

It’s a letter which is sent with the autobiography as it’s an additional chance to link your abilities and skills with that job where you can speak about what distinguishes you and make you the proper one for this job through linking the Job requirements and responsibilities with your experience and skills Provided that they do not be more than three paragraphs in one page only.

Portfolio:

This type is bigger and more accurate than BioData , CV and Resume and has more details: It contains:

  • Personal data.
  • The personal skills whether in your business or in other fields as being perfect in speaking many languages.
  • A detailed description about your experience (companies you’ve worked for and your positions).
  • Your educational background (all qualifications, certifications and positions you got once).
  • Photos and videos to show a certain status.

Common mistakes:

There are some common mistakes that are repeated more and more as:

  • Sending your autobiography without any identification message.
  • The message title isn’t clear, so it’s better to write your name and your job title in the message title.
  • Using a bad and unprofessional font to write your data.
  • Starting your message with common and unclear formula as Sir or Madam.
  • If you don’t try to get the addressee’s name or using the department and the company name.
  • Using the same cover title for every job you apply for.
  • Making the message too long.
  • Sending the same message to more than one E-mail at the same time or sending it arbitrary.
